The “Count Me In” project was funded by a Scottish Executive Education Department (SEED) Innovations Grant which was awarded to the Scottish Dyslexia Trust in 2002. The work of the project was carried out by the following team of education professionals and a parent in co-operation with East Renfrewshire, Argyll & Bute, City of Edinburgh and Orkney Councils Education Departments:
- Isobel Calder, University of Strathclyde
- Caron Casey, Parent
- Kathleen Clark, University of Strathclyde (Project Director)
- Margaret Crombie, Highland Council
- Pamela Deponio, University of Edinburgh
- Elizabeth MacKenzie, Dyslexia Institute, Scotland
- Morag O’Connor, Fife Council
The project gave rise to the creation of three sets of materials. The first of these was an information and advice pack for primary schools which was launched in April 2004. Since that time the project team has adapted the materials to create a version for student teachers and this information for parents which you have accessed on the “Count Me In” website.
We hope that you find the information useful and would like to point out that it is intended to add to and to complement the wealth of information on dyslexia which is already in the public domain. Please note that the names of the children which appear in this material have been changed to protect their anonymity.
