Self-esteem

Both George and Derek suffered from poor self-esteem.  This is very common among children who are dyslexic because their dyslexia makes them different from other children and they find their difficulties frustrating.  Sometimes other children can be intolerant of differences and dyslexic children can sometimes be picked on or bullied.
